A great poem

On my wanders around blog, I came across a really beautiful poem about a soldiers lot in life. Please go & visit at anndi's blog.

I'll not reintroduce it here. Visit her blog. It's really worth it.

Our men and women in the service deserve our thanks and respect.

I agree anndi. Unfortunately, we are in a minority. A huge percentage of civilians hate us in the UK. Follow this link (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/onthefrontline/2680039/Soldier-refused-room-at-hotel.html)to see a portrayal of the way we're treated. It's not isolated.

I'm appalled. I'm writing the management of that hotel and letting them know what I think of them.

People fail to distinguish between the soldier and the war. If you object to a war, that's fine. You have the right to... after all, the military fought dictators to ensure people wouldn't be goosestepping and have freedom of religion and thought and expression. But the soldier is not the government. If they oppose the war, demand withdrawal and hold the elected officials to it.

Anndi, I'm with you on that one. People do not distinguish against government and the armed forces because they like to simplify things and think people in the armed forces actually believe in the government. We don't. We believe we are professional people serving our Queen; the only constant of this corrupt kingdom. The day to day running of the country is run by all manner of ego heads who i have no time for. Let civilians decide how the country is run and who they let us invade..and if they have the guts, get rid of them if they're wrong.
Just as long as they realise, they are responsible for voting them in.

let them think of that the next time they spit on us.
